Yes. During your first week at Hybrid Performance you can usually try different classes, as long as there’s space in the sessions. Many new members test a mix of HYROX classes, Hybrid Boxing and strength & conditioning to see what matches their goals, energy and training experience. This helps you feel the difference between each class format instead of guessing from a timetable. If you’re not sure how to structure that first week, we can recommend a simple mix based on your level and whether you’re aiming for HYROX, general fitness or performance.
No, you don’t need previous experience to join HYROX or Hybrid Boxing classes at our gym in Amsterdam. Both training formats are designed to be scalable for beginners and more advanced athletes. In HYROX classes we break movements and race standards down step by step, while in Hybrid Boxing we focus on stance, guard and basic combinations before adding speed and power. Coaches adjust intensity, loading and complexity so you can train safely, learn the basics properly and build confidence over time. Whether you’re completely new to functional training or boxing, you won’t be thrown in at the deep end.
It’s not a problem if your first class at Hybrid Performance isn’t a perfect match — that’s part of figuring out what works for you. Our coaches pay attention to how you move, how you handle the workload and how you respond to the session. If we see that another class type, such as a different HYROX level, strength-focused class or Hybrid Boxing session, would suit you better, we’ll tell you and explain why. We’d rather adjust your path early than let you train in the wrong environment, so you can keep progressing safely and consistently in our HYROX and performance gym in Amsterdam.
Yes, combining classes with Open Gym and personal training is often the best way to train at Hybrid Performance. Many members use HYROX or strength & conditioning classes as the backbone of their week, and then add Open Gym sessions for extra engine work, technique practice or accessory strength. If you want more structure or have a specific target like a HYROX race or a comeback from injury, personal training and physio can provide a customised plan that you partly execute in classes and partly in Open Gym. This layered approach turns our classes, Open Gym and coaching into one integrated performance programme instead of separate pieces.
If you’re unsure where to start, the best option is to book an intake or trial and let us help you choose. During this first contact we look at your goals (for example HYROX, Hybrid Boxing, general fitness or rehab), your training background, any injuries and how many times per week you can realistically train. Based on that, we recommend a starting point: specific classes, a mix of HYROX and strength, or a combination of classes with Open Gym and possibly PT or physio. That way you don’t have to figure out the full plan alone, and you start your training at our performance-focused gym in Amsterdam with a clear direction instead of trial and error.
